I love how everyone thinks they know exactly what qualifies and what does not qualify as "art". So this isn't art...but go take a look at Jim Pollock, so he can just throw paint around on a canvas and suddenly that's considered art? Who makes these rules I'd like to know. Art is a term that describes a diverse range of human activities and the products of those activities. Regardless of that fact, one can hardly say that this is just a picture of some half naked girl. This work of photography show regard to lighting, composition, tone, and a myriad of other "artistic qualities" weather you enjoy the piece or not is irrelevant, your personal preference does not define something as "art"
That's my opinion, I'm not saying I have the authority to force you to justify your reason and not just base it on preference, but I am expressing my belief that you should do so. Just as others expressed their opinion that this is not "art" and others challenged it and just as you challenge me, no one is the be-all end-all decider on who's opinion is correct or incorrect since it is not so clearly defined. We just state our opinions on a piece. That happened to be mine.
Perhaps I just feel very strongly about my opinions? I'm sorry I cannot cite a source fro these statements if that is what you are looking for, I'm not quite sure what you're endgame is. I'm simply stating something I feel strongly about, but I don't think I need to put "I feel" or "I think" before each statement to be sure no one mistakes it for an assertion of fact. You're welcome to disagree with it, I was just putting it out there.
Why? What? Where's the art in this? Does she have any respect for herself? Dressing up in a couple napkins and even intentionally exaggerating her cleavage? No, no, nooo. This is just wrong for deviantART. I wouldn't want to offend you, but like many others would say, I just don't see any art in this. There are sites that are specific for this sort of material, and deviantART isn't that (even though they seem to somewhat support it, but oh well, who wouldn't-- they get more traffic for their site at least).
And I skimmed his other photos. Dude's got talent. I'm not saying he is a bad photographer at all, and many of his other photos are great. I just don't think this is appropriate cus I know a lot of little kids use this site.
